A Note for You

For you.
I know you are looking all over the internet for my name.
Let me make it easier for you and leave you a note.

Certainly, you were hurt. Sure I understand that.
But that doesn't mean you will have the licensed to mess someone else's life.
Social networking sites such as facebook are created to connect people and build relationships.
It's not for selfish intent.
Not for spreading rumors.
Not for staining someone else's image.
Not for cowardly purpose.
It's build for a reason.

I'm sorry but I am one of the very few who decided not to have an fb account.
However, you still try to look for people who has the same surname as mine.
You have created a mess not just on me but on the lives of the people so close to me.
Now tell me, are you happy?
Ruining someone else's image just to feel good about yourself.
Is that a sane thing to do?

YOLO my dear. (you only live once)
Don't waste your time running after the people, you think, who have hurt you.
The truth of the matter is, you are hurting yourself- making you appear pathetic.
We dont have anything to do with you.
In the first place, it was you who crossed the marker first. (you know what I mean)
Please avoid playing a victim.

I am a woman, sure I know how it feels.
If guys can man up, sure you too can woman up!
Do not use someone else's profile to address the issues.
That's gutless.

Love and life should not be as complicated as what you are trying to imply.
Us, humans, are gifted with willpower and inteligence to decipher things.
Try to exercise it sometimes.

The Singapore Family Getaway

I have been wishing all my life to return the goodness and upbringing my parents did to raise me. There is no way I can thank them enough for everything they've done for the 3 of us. Thank God that after 24 years of my life, I have somehow given them something that they and I can hold on to for the rest of our lives. After all, the essence of why I am trying to work hard is for them.

My parents and bros, while at the airport.

The 4-day Singapore trip, though very short to explore the whole city and try everything it has to offer, are the best four days of our lives as a family. It could have been much longer but they have individual commitments and school to attend to. It was fun and overwhelming.

These are the photos that my mom loves viewing every now and then. These bring in memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lifetime.

Another trip? Soon to come.

Ciao for now,

Scarves from Travels

Recently, I’ve decided to ransack my closet to pack some clothes to be given away to charity. Just as I was doing it, I was surprised to know that I do have a lot of scarves of different textiles from various countries. It just now that I know that I have, I may say- a pretty much scarf collection.

Scarf is multi-purpose and of great importance for me when I travel because of the comfort it gives me.

To show some, here are a few of my favorites:

I got this from Singapore. Very plain and simple. Can be used for formal occasions.

These 2 pieces, I got these from Malaysia. On the contrary to the first one, these are very casual and hip.

These scarves are from Cambodia. This light blue satin-like scarf is my season’s favorite. It’s very light and chic. I love how intricately it was designed with gold-coulored elephants. Usually, a white tee paired with jeans can be oh so stylish in an instant when you added a scarf- simple and chic.

This one gives me the total comfort. It’s bigger than the usual scarf and very soft. Very good to use inside the airplane if you are not comfortable to use the blanket provided for.  You can also use this to lie down on or  as a cover up while enjoying the sand and the beach. Bought this from Marks and Spencer in Jakarta.

This was my very first scarf. I bought this from Hong Kong during my first international travel- Hong Kong-Beijing Trip way back 2007 I guess. It was very comfortable to use then because it was freaking -12 degree celsius in Beijing that time.

Interestingly, these are the stuffs that made me remember those wonderful places, just as others brought home t-shirts, key chains, to name a few.

Where's the next?!

Until my next scarf,

Memoir of Malacca (Melaka)

Looking back at my history class during my primary years, Straits of Malacca was one of the important names in history for it played an essential role in ancient Spice Route. It was then all in the books.. and now, I just hit it.

Melaka (in english, Malacca) is one of the Malayian states which was tagged as World Heritage City by UNESCO (along with Georgetown).

The infamous Christ Church- an anglican church

It is a mix of Malaysian, Chinese, Dutch and Portuguese cultures as depicted by its architectural designs and festivities.

...the FOOD. You can only taste one's authentic culture thru sidestreets.

and the colorful TRISHAW. For RM40 (or approximately S$20), you'll get to go around the sites- Dutch Square (where Christ Church is located), Jonker Street, museums, Porta de Santiago, St. Paul's Church, Portugis Settlement (where the infamous San Pedro restaurant and their baked fish can be found), etc. Name it and you'll be there. :-)

Melaka people are very warm and friendly. Not to mention the driver cum guide that we've hired to drive us around. There are a lot of guest houses, hostels and hotels to choose from. A variety of restaurants and dishes to indulge with. Indeed the best place to go to relax and enjoy the countryside.

I'll see you again Melaka.

Malaysia: A Bus Away

Been to Malaysia for the nth time. Some personal trips whilst others are biz trips. This time around we've decided to try something new- riding a bus from Singapore (oh yes, you heard that right) rather than hopping in a plane and go through airport hassles. It will be a 5 hour land travel though to Bandar Utama, Malaysia.

As advised, I googled Aeroline Bus and booked online. Such a relief, I can book bus ticket online at the comfort of my room whilst on my pajama (no need to go to Beach Road). So we boarded Aeroline Bus at Harbourfront Centre.

I sort of have high hopes while boarding the bus as I browse their website thoroughly making it sure I'm choosing the right bus line for a 5 hour journey. Surprisingly, it met my expectations!
The bus is with the "comft-est" bus seat I've ever encountered. Its seats are equipped with tv that comes with a headset and the choices of movie, music, photo and game. It has a bus stewardess!
It serves meal on board with a bottled water and a cup of coffee or milo after eating. I actually didn't realize that 5 hour travel is over. I was able to finish 2 movies- Confession of a Shopaholic and Larry Crowne (with an e).
It was a great travel indeed! Did not regret taking the bus and choosing Aeroline. We departed at 3pm and arrived at 1 Utama Terminal at 46 minutes past the hour of 7- not a 5 hour trip after all.

From Malaysia with love,

HAPPINESS for real

Rat race. We thought ganyan ang buhay. We are all gearing, not to mention competing, towards the ultimate finish line- happiness. But it is no means easy.

I tried to learn driving. Experts say that when one finally learns to drive, it'll be like breathing. I tried...

But greez, I'm no expert driver. I can only managed to bring the car in and out of our vicinity on first gear. Ahm oh, I tried maybe twice or thrice (I cannot really remember exactly) that I drove the car along the highway. I almost hit a tricycle though and almost smashed my head right at the dashboard due to immediate break. What did the experts just say? It'll be like breathing? Holy cow, it's the other way around. From then on, I told myself, "Okay. driving isn't really your cup of tea. Over. I don't have to learn this thing. I can always have my brother as my driver whenever I have to go out anyway (silly excuses, but now he's married.. so how???)"

It made me realize that life is like a car. It just starts when we ignite it. It stops when we stepped on the break pedal. We totally control it. We are responsible as to how slow and how fast we get to the destination. We can bump, glide and crash with other cars too. We compete as to how cool our car looks or how fast can it get against others. If our car is "fast and furious," everyone stares at it with envious eyes. If it looks bad, everyone laughs at it. But no matter what our cars look like, we just aim for one thing- to get to our destination.

COOL. My dream car!

5Cs are essential. THEY SAY.
CASH- geez everyone needs this! who doesn't?
CONDO- or house, we got to be sheltered of course
CAREER-  the measurement of success
CREDIT CARD- wow for maximum credit line; cashless spending
CAR- the status symbol; COOL

But are these the only things that matter? Are these the things that can really make us happy?

Yes maybe for a time. Until such time our condos and cars have worn out; cash won't be usable for no more goods are available because of a plague or disaster; we can no longer work due to an old age; and credit cards won't function because POS machines have broken down.

All these things depreciate. Now, could these really bring us happiness?

We aim for these things because in the eyes of people this is happiness. We people, wanted to be adored, be famous and be on top. We follow a certain norm but come to think of it, these measurement of success and happiness; rightness and wrongness are just based on the standards of mere human beings.

Just like a car, no matter it's porsche or toyota box type 80s model the only reason that we bought a car is for it to bring us to our point of destination. It doesnt matter if you're rich, middle class or poor, there is only one thing that you and I aim in life- happiness.

Life is such a precious gift that we should take good care of. It's more than what the material world dictates us to have. It's about being yourself and continuously discovering who you really are. It is not bad to dream of having all these things but it is, if your life is all about these.

Finding the real happiness? If time comes that you will be more than willing to give up all these things, ready to let yourself go.. then you just found it.

Come on, break loose!
